Butter London PureCure Manicure System

Hi guys! Guess what!? I have something exciting new to show you today. Butter London has just released something I think the nail polish world has needed! If you haven't already heard they have just released a new system called the PURECURE Manicure system. Its basically the same as the whole gel system yet so much better because it peels off with no harm to your nails! Now you are intrigued huh?!

In todays video I am going to unbox the kit and show you all of the bits that come with, talk you through the process and then share my experience so you are going to want to check it out. :) I will tell ya know that I am impressed and do think they are truly on to something with this peel off gel like system.

I personally don't use gel, nor do I like the idea of gels. No, I am not a nail professional which is where some people will say I don't know what I am talking about but from personal experiences and seeing others use gels I've never thought the after affects were worth it. Gel when done correctly and removed correctly can look really nice. There is no disputing that by any means I just feel like more often than not you end up with nail damage afterwards. That then starts a vicious cycle of reapplying gels just to make your nails "better" again and so on. So I have alway advised family members to stay away from it because you can use hybrid "gel like" systems and get the same look. Sometimes its just a matter of finding the perfect base/top/polish that works with your body chemistry, and once you have done that that mani may last just as long or longer than gel and when you are done you won't have that gel damage after which is great which is why I've always avoided the gel craze.

Now with this new peel off gel its a different story. This polish is great! You get that thick gel look but when you are done you just peel it off. I wore mine for about 4 or so days and didn't have any "wear" expect for the nails I messed up (more on that later) and they still looked really shiny and thick. It was great. With this system I am not jeopardizing the health of my nails whats so ever. I'm not really worried about the wear time because I can get long wear time from many normal polishes and ya'll know I change my nails often. ;) Do I think this polish would have a long wear time, yes! It would be great for you if you knew you were going on a vacation and didn't want to deal with nail things.

Plus since its a peel off mani you don't have to worry about that long gel removal process which is SOO nice. I've taken gel off others before, not fun. Definitely if those people aren't patient people. Just saying! :)

So lets go over the process a bit!

Step one.... Remove any and all previous nail polish, if you don't have any on you still want to make sure there is nothing left on your nails. For this you can use polish remover. If you want to trim nails, file nails or anything you want to do that now.

Step two.... Use the lil nail scrubber wipes that come in the kit to make sure nothing is on your nails. No oils, fuzzies, just anything. (Keep you nail scrubber wipe after this. I stuck mine back into the little bag it came in.)

Step three.... Apply the 2 in 1 Base/Top coat on your 4 fingers on one hand. Put hand under the lamp and press the 60 second button. (Repeat on your other hand, then do your thumbs)

Step four.... Apply a THIN coat of the color, the one in the Kit is called Cheeky. More are available online though. ;) Then cure and repeat in the same way you did in Step three.

Step five.... Apply your THIN second coat and repeat what you just did.

Step six.... Apply a thin coat of your 2 in 1 Base/Top coat and cure. Do this in the same order you have done all of the above steps.

Step seven.... Once your mani is done you then want to grab that nail scrubber wipe and use it on all of your nails. This is to remove the tacky layer that is on top, just like the one you get with gel manis. If you run out of wipes or its no longer dry I would suggest using rubbing alcohol.

Then you are all done and good to go. It feels weird though because if you are like me and programmed to be super careful you will find your self acting like you have wet nails yet in reality you don't. It was so weird. Ha, after I paint I usually head downstairs for dessert but usually have to wait to scoop up some ice cream but nope! Ha!

No let me show you what happens if you don't do thin coats.

So on both of my thumbs I ended up with weird folds/waves in my polish and its due to my polish application not being thin enough. The consistency of this polish is different which I mean all brands are so you always have to "learn" the polish however in this case on some nails even if you go what you consider "thin" it might not be. In this case I did do thin coats but since my thumb nails are quite curved it decided that the thin coat wanted to run to one side more than the other and therefore making that are thicker and when you cure that it doesn't cure smooth even if you think it looks smooth when you put it under the light. It just looks very weird as it happened You can see the weird waves form under the light and there is nothing that can be done in that moment to help it sadly. It did it on both of my thumbs due to the curve so something to keep in mind for those who have majorly curved nails. On my right hand I have one nail that is weird and super curved and it also did this too.

Well guys I think that is information wise from my adventure with this polish. I am pretty excited about it. I think people should totally switch from gel to this! Its honestly a lot better. Plus 12 free which is always a plus! If you have any questions about what I thought or want to know anything else I may of forgotten to mentions let me know and I will do my best to help. The system is available now HERE and it comes with everything I showed you in the video. Anyone can buy it too, you do need to be a professional, nor have a license, its meant so ya'll can do the whole gel like process at home and not go to the salon! :) You could totally do this with a face mask on and by the time you were done you mask would probably just be ready for you to remove it and it would be perfect because your nails would already be ready too! Woo! Spa night at home anyone! ;)

Happy Painting!

  1. how does this compare to using a latex peel-off base?

    1. I can't use latex so I can't speak for that, but for say the Sally Hansen Peel off I would say this works a tad bit better but if you aren't in it for the longevity I would say stick with the regular peel off but this one works well with long term wear!

  2. Wow Im super intrigued! I don’t like the idea of gel either so have always avoided them.

  3. I'm glad to see a gel system that is peel off.

  4. I was surprised when I saw the price but since you get the light and can buy polishes separately it didn't seem bad at all. Butter London makes some great polish shades so I hope they increase that selection.

  5. You have GORGEOUS nails and I'm interested in how this system holds up!

  6. I've heard enough horror stories on nail gels, and enough to convince me not to try it. This system sounds interesting

  9. I can't personally wrap my head around peeling off gel but I really am intrigued. Seems like a great idea especially for the DIYer!

  10. This is definitely cool concept. Butter London seemed to totally disappear so I'm glad they are back.

  11. I really like the concept of this. I don;t use gel polish because it just doesn't make sense for my needs and sometimes my peel off base coats some off a little too easily. This seems like a nice meet in the middle option.

  12. I'm totally with you on the gel aversion. I did just get some fake gels that don't need UV. Even though you had some rippling on your thumbs, this polish looks fantastic!

  13. Ooh I want that pretty floral nail file! A peel-off gel sounds like a LOT of fun to test out!

  14. How long does this actually last? I always use gel because it lasts 2 weeks on me and there is no drying time (I don't have patience for that and always ruin regular nail polish) I am really interested in this but I don't want to waste my money if it only lasts the same as regular polish. (By the way, I don't actually like the "thick" look of gel polish, I use it for durability, so I don't care if this has that or not)

    1. After having tested it on my self and my mom I would say it lasts up to about 2 to 2 and 1/2 Weeks! I was very pleased with the wear time and the removal was so easy which is really nice! That was wear time included washing dishes, household chores and it was still great. No real tip wear to speak of, just a growth gap!
