Digital Dozen/Nail Crazies Unite | 5 Days 5 Continents | Day 5 + Ocean Life

Beach Nails

Hello there and Happy Friday! So today I am doubling up on themes. Today is the last DD mani for the Continent week, and its also the Nail Crazies Unite Ocean Life theme. So I have mixed them together. It will make sense so just keep reading! :)

So for North America I did consider doing some major USA mani, but honestly I didn't feel like wear red white and blue right after I had just been wearing them 24/7 last week. So I tried to think of something all of North America has, so I looked up all of the places that make up North America and tried to come up with something they all have in common. Then I also thought about the Ocean Life theme and figure out how I could get those all in one mani. For the majority of the places I though of beaches! Plus the beach = ocean life. I feel like people in North America really like vacationing to the beach, and then there are those that are lucky enough to live on the coast. Here in Florida we see license plates from ALL of North America, and a lot of the ones we don't see have their own beaches so it seemed like a good compromise. :)

So I have created a beach mani that also includes some ocean life! Here is a quick look at the thumb. It depicts all of the seacoast that grow on the sand dunes that line the coast line....Or should be lining the coat line. Our area is slowly getting the dunes back in place after Hurricane Matthew.

Now lets talk through this mani! It was SOOOO fun to do. I started with Zoya Blu, as my base color, and then added in the sand and the water. I made it "high tide" you could say with a bit more movement. After that in order to capture the sea live I painted 2 starfish in the sand, along with a conch shell. We don't see starfish all of the time but there are some beach trips where you see them. It can depend on the time of year as to what kind you see too. :) Then I added in a few dolphins. Now this dolphin placement its accurate. You wouldn't really see them this close to the shore because it is a bit to shallow. Sharks on there other hand.... Actually real quick un fact for you: You can actually see Dolphins in the St Johns River, and in the Matanzas. We see them more there than the ocean for sure.

Then on the beach I also wanted to actually show someone enjoying the area, so it started with a sandcastle. Then came the bucket, and shovel. After that I was done, so I thought, but then I felt like it was missing something so I got the nerve up and did a person! Ekkkk, there was like a 99.9% chance of it ruining the full mani but I did it anyway, and actually like it. Gasp!! I can't believe it honestly! I've never done a person like this really! Kind of crazy!

Then after that I topped it all off with a matte top coat so all of the details would be clear in the photos. This would of looked nice in a glossy finish but I have found that detailed looks tend to not picture well if they are glossy. So matte it is for looks like this! I hope you have enjoyed this week of odd theme, and hopefully this mani! I think this is my fave of the week, although yesterdays would be close behind! Well that is it for today! I will talk to you all later! Let me know what you think in the comments below!

Happy Painting!

  1. Yay for a mani with a person - super challenging! I have seen dolphins a few times in the ocean once when in Hawaii they were swimming along with our boat and then once while I was in Mexico I could see them jumping off in the distance...way far away. They have such personality! Great job this week!

Thats so cool! We were in the Matanzas here and dolphins came and played along the side of the boat! It was so neat!
