Happy Reads | Girl Online

Zoella Girl Online

Hey there everyone, happy Friday! So today I am switching things up and throwing in a Happy Reads post! I have a few planned so I thought why not start now. As a reader I've always been super picky, and I feel like in this day and age its so hard to find books that are light hearted, and just put you in a happy place, and I feel like that is something we all need sometimes. :) That all being said I want to start sharing my good finds with you! This week we are starting of with Zoella's, Zoe Sugg's, series Girl Online.

Girl Online Review

Now if you aren't familiar with Zoella, most likely you are, but she is actually a Youtuber and Blogger who is amazing at her job. I've been watching her videos and reading her posts for a few years now and I just love them! So a few years ago when she started releasing fiction books I knew I had to try them. Plus they are about a blogger after all! :) So it only seemed fitting. Now I do believe these would be considered as YA Fiction, but honestly it doesn't really matter. I don't think YA fiction is ever really too young for anyone. :)

Girl Online Review

Here are a quick look at each of these books....

Girl Online

I have this dream that, secretly, all teenage girls feel exactly like me. And maybe one day, when we realize that we all feel the same, we can all stop pretending we’re something we’re not. That would be awesome. But until that day, I’m going to keep it real on this blog and keep it unreal in “real” life. Penny has a secret. Under the alias GirlOnline, Penny blogs her hidden feelings about friendship, boys, high school drama, her quirky family, and the panic attacks that have begun to take over her life. When things go from bad to worse at school, her parents accept an opportunity to whisk the family away for Christmas at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City. There, she meets Noah, a gorgeous, guitar-strumming American. Suddenly Penny is falling in love—and capturing every moment she spends with “Brooklyn Boy” on her blog. But Noah has a secret, too, one that threatens to ruin Penny’s cover—and her closest friendship—forever. ( Excerpt from Barnes & Noble

Girl Online | On Tour

In this sequel to the New York Times bestseller, Girl Online, Penny joins her rock-star boyfriend on the road in Europe.
When Noah invites Penny on his first-ever European tour, she can’t wait to spend the summer with her rock-god-tastic boyfriend.
But, between Noah’s jam-packed schedule, less-than-welcoming band mates, and threatening messages from jealous fans, Penny wonders whether she’s really cut out for life on tour. She can’t help but miss her family, her best friend Elliot, and her blog, “Girl Online.”
Can Penny learn to balance life and love on the road, or will she lose everything in pursuit of the perfect summer? ( Excerpt from Barnes & Noble

Girl Online | Going Solo

Every time I walk around a corner there’s another reminder of him. Even though I’m sure he must be far away from where I am, I keep thinking I see him in a crowd of people just ahead of me....Am I going crazy? You know that saying that goosebumps happen when someone walks over your grave? That’s the same feeling I get—shivery, cold, a little bit scared—and it always makes me feel a bit pathetic. What can I do to drive the ghosts away and feel normal again?Penny’s life is back to normal. As she starts the school year, she’s ready to face the world—alone. Noah has gone off the radar after ending his world tour early, and no one, including Penny, knows where he is or why he’s left everything behind. So when Penny accepts Megan’s invitation to visit her performing arts school, it seems like an opportunity to make some new friends.
Helping everyone else might be the right remedy—Elliot needs her friendship more than ever, as does her new friend Posey, who she can really help deal with her stage fright. And when charming Scottish photographer Callum comes along, Penny has more than her fair share of distractions. But is he the right kind of distraction? Can Penny truly move on when Noah’s shadow seems to haunt her around every corner? ( Excerpt from Barnes & Noble)

Girl Online Review

I throughly enjoyed each of these books. I love the little bits about the blogging world that she incorporated into the book and just the little parts where she is realizing how much her blog means to others. I think its really neat and knowing it was written by a blogger its just nice to see that perspective. Plus being a blogger myself it just makes it all a bit more relatable. Another thing I really enjoyed was the little British terms and such. Thats just so fun. Then on top of that since the area it is set in are all real you can google them and see what they look like. Plus if you watch her videos you can kinda imagine the accents as you read which makes it really good. There aren't really many nice books out there like this. Personally when I am choosing to sit down with a book to read I am hoping to just take a little trip to another little world, you know its like a little escape from reality and these books are great for that. Ha, and I mean a Rockstar boyfriend, yeah its a good book series! I don't know if there is going to be another one or not but I think it would be very interesting to see what's next for Penny! Have you read this series, or do you plan on it? If you have any recommendations for similar books please let me know in the comments! Hope you have enjoyed this post! It was a fun one to create for you!

Happy Weekend!

  1. I have been wanting to get her first book and start it myself. She is one of my fave youtubers/bloggers and I think she is one bad ass girl boss as well. I am over 40 years old but still love a good YA novel so I think these books must make their way into my collection asap! Xo
