New Garden Shop Prints | 25 Sweetpeas by Sarah

Hello and welcome back! Its been a lil bit since we've had any art posts let alone print releases so today I am super excited to announce 4 new prints are up in my shop! I am so excited about them because they were so so fun! I've worked on these over the past few months as I've eagerly waited for warm temperature! Which we are actually having today as I sit outside and write this post! Ekkk, so fun!

This collection of prints has 2 main pieces in my mind and those are the middle two featured in the below. The Plant nursery outdoor section with a cute lil walk up window and then the inside green house aspect of it which you can actually find in both. 😉 Then we have the accent pieces of which are featured items from the main two. Those are the lil plant wagon and then the seed packets. 

These are first and foremost available as prints, but also mini prints if you want something a bit smaller! Two of the illustrations are also available as cards, such a fun lil design for a card too because after its received as a card it can be used as decor! I thought it would be a little fun to show you some of the process behind these pieces. It all started with not really knowing what to do, so I decide to do a leaf study. Which is basically where I looked at neat leaf photos and tried to figure out how to illustrate them. Plus I decided I wanted to learn how to add more leaves into my illustrations since I enjoy having houseplants pop up in my pieces. I ended up visiting a ton of Plant nursery websites and look at all sorts of leaves! It was actually really fun! Around the same time I had been watching my fave Netflix Original, Falling Inn Love, and I had that plant nursery on the brain. So I mixed all of those things together and came up with some sketched. The loose sketches are above, and honestly I think they probably sat untouched for a month because they *intimidated* me! 😂 Any whooo I eventually got the nerve up and had such a fun time! I love detailing all of the things, and mixing the indoors/outdoors was such a fun time! As you can see the sketches area usually messy, and not super detailed so that part is the unplanned part. Also sometimes I color plan pieces as shown above by just putting in the color behind the sketch to see different color combos. I don't always do this but last year I did it for every piece.

Here is a fun time lapse of the Herb Garden, it really shows the full process, the rough sketch, the refined sketch, background work, and so on! With the wall being a glass window I was certainly unsure of what I was doing but I really do like how it came out. 😊
