Calysta Labs

Hello and welcome back! Today I have a bit of a different post for you guys which is fun and refreshing. Today we are getting to look at some skincare from Calysta Labs. They were very kind and recently sent over 3 different things for me to try so I am going to show you all what they were and tell you about the experiences!

Calysta Labs

First up we are looking at 2 items that I feel like many would/could use on a daily basis and in most all skin care routines. One is an Illuminating Anti-Aging Serum, and the other is a Revitalizing Moisturizer. Before we get into how they preformed lets get a little run down of each product!

Calysta Labs

The taller one is the Revitalizing Moisturizer and we will chat about that one first!

Name - Revitalizing Moisturizer
Price - $45
Amount of Product - 50ml 1.7fl. oz
Ingredients - Emulsifix-205, Cyclomethicone, Lubragel® NP, Water
Directions - Apply to clean face in the morning and before going to bed.
Claims - Evenly soothes and moisturizes dry skin

My Experience - Right now my face isn't super dry or anything which is great but I could tell a difference. I just put one little pump on my finger and rubbed it in and it felt so nice and as I applied it, it felt as if nothing was there. It melts on the skin and just absorbs right up which I was super impressed with. There was no greasy feeling and I didn't feel like my face was oily after which is always a good thing. Its unscented and therefore there was no scent to get in the way and be all concentrated on my face. I don't know about you but I know I prefer no scents around my face, I feel like facial products that have heavy scents are just asking for a headache. I didn't really notice any flare ups of any kind in the sense of breakouts. It would honestly be hard to tell if what did appear was from it of just life stress ya know? So I'd categorize it as not an issue for this.

Here is a look at the nice little pump each have!

Directions - Apply a pea-sized amount on a clean face at bedtime. Use every other night for the first several applications.
Claims - boost radiance while fighting lines, dark spots and dullness

My Experience - Right off the bat I will preface this by saying obviously this is something that will have best results over time. It is meant to boost radiance while fighting lines, dark spots and dullness. I don't have any troubled areas at the moment that I would notice a difference in but I can say it feels nice it does also feel a bit greasy but at the moment I can't really a-test to a major difference. My mom is also testing it out at the moment so I'll try to have us check in and add an update to this post as we notice or don't notice anything after long time use.

Calysta Labs

Name - Clarifying Charcoal Peel-Off Mask

Directions - Apply Mask to face and let set for 15 to 30 minutes until completely dried. You may feel a slight tingling sensation. Peel off and wash face with warm water. Safe to use daily but recommended for use 2-3 times a week.
Claims - Removes impurities while infusing skin with brightening, tightening nutrients.

My Experience - I love face masks, they have become one of my favorite things over the past year and I have been wanting to try a charcoal peel one, I have a normal on that you wash off but had yet to try a peel charcoal one so this was exciting. I had a spot that was bugging me so I thought ooo this is a great time to use a charcoal mask so I applied it! I used a lil plastic spoon I usually use for scrubs and spread it out with my fingers. I wouldn't suggest that, it took forever,  I think getting a in expensive  ELF brush to dedicate towards mask would be a must for applying ones like these. Its so thick and goopy that finger take forever to clean after wards lol! Anywhooo I applied it and I feel like I did it kind of on the thinner side because I just have a tendency to do that so my dry time was A LOT less than what the packing said. So I say set a timer for the minimum time, but if it is dry before get started on removing. It has a very strong scent of tea tree oil, menthol and I would say a very slight hint of the lavender. I actually wish there had been more lavender scent to mask the tea tree oil because I'm not a big fan of tea tree oil. So moving on to while its drying. While it was drying it did start to tingle but I really think that is due to the mintyness and it also resulted in my face getting hot but nothing major and that was about 7 minutes in. At that point it was dry and it felt to hot to me so I went to start my hot water and peel it off. Not going to lie the peel was painful especially towards your lower cheek area. After it was all off I rinsed my face with water and I applied a cleanser that I used on a daily basis to kind of cool it down. After the removal every area that had, had the mask on it was red. Kind of looked like I had a sunburn which I have noticed happens with some mask, but this it settles and leaves you with a nice complexion and amazing feeling skin.

Calysta Labs

Overall I would say it was nice especially knowing what to expect the next time but I feel like its a lot more work that some others. It did help with the spot I was hoping it would, I think the next day it only needed a lil coverup and then the following day it was like it wasn't even there which was great. So in that respect I think I might continue using it more as spot treatment rather than my full face. Its not something I would want to use more than once a month really full on any way. I think its quite the intensive mask and I feel like you don't really need that intense level all the time.

Calysta Labs

  1. Warmth in masks can always be confusing. Sometimes it's totally ok and other times it's a sign of a reaction. I'm glad yours was no big deal.
