Hey there guys! So today is going to be a bit different from my normal posts! Usually every time I post the blog post and video of the day go together but that is not the case! That being said both are different and fun in their own ways. The video that is up on Youtube today is actually a Topic Tuesday video (I know its Wedneday LOL), and then the blog post is kind of fan art!?!
Ok so I haven't done "fan art" in a long time. Like it used to be one of my fave things way back when actually. However in the past so many years I've felt weird about it? Not sure why, but it just seemed out of my element, granted I will talk about the music I am loving anytime and all the time so not sure why I've been weird about it? Eh, who knows! Anywhooo, if you have been reading my Sweetpeas Picks posts you will know that I have been loving the 5 Seconds of Summer Youngblood CD! Like really love it. Actually I was just saying to someone the other day that I haven't loved a CD like this in its entirety since probably 2013 when my fave band called it quits. Like I've liked/loved lots of CDs since but none to that capacity since I would say.
Yet there is something about this one that I just love, and its been out for over a month now and I am still not over it, and I love every song. Also the fact you hear instruments in the songs and not all electronics is just SO great, and hard to come by now. Now I didn't really think about nail art for it by any means. I've been listening to the version that we purchased that had a different cover than what you see on say, Spotify or iTunes so yes I had seen it but I hadn't really looked at it. Then the other day I was listening to the CD via Spotify and was looking at the cover that you see above, and I noticed there is a marble on the side. Any time I see a marble of course I think I need to try it *then I always fail, but its practice*. Then the gears started turning, marble nails stripes, and bold yet dark colors.
So I tried it and decided why not! Its not like they are super in your face fan nails, like most probably wouldn't even get it the inspiration without being told what it was. Then once I got the nails done and pics ready I had this "brilliant" idea to make the album cover into basically a frame and then filter the nail pics to make it similar to the album for the fun of it. Kinda looks ridiculous 😂, but I actually had A LOT of fun with it. I felt very in my element.
Polishes Used For The Marble
Nails Inc - Not Invited
Zoya - Marigold
China Glaze - Red-y to Rave
China Glaze - Pilates Please
I did the drip method on a plastic lid for the marble. Then the stripes are freehanded with the Mitty Candy 00 Brush. The glitter nail is a polish that I will be reviewing and sharing details on very soon! :) Its by Glam Polish and its called Whats This? Whats This?
Obviously you could change the colors up and this would just be a funky marbled strip mani. Or you could wear this to a 5SOS concert for anyone getting to see them on the Meet You There Tour, or ya know if you are just a fan because why not! I bet they would put on a great show, maybe someday I will have to find out!
So while we are kind of on the topic of concerts how about a fun fact? So have you even wondered what the 25 in 25 Sweetpeas was for? Well, the 25 is 25 because of a date. It was a concert that I had really like really wanted to go to and it was unlike anything I had been too. It was at a small venue and had a total of like 4 bands, and I went for the headliners but left loving them all. Plus beyond that I actually got to meet all of the people performing which was super cool. I then continued to follow those bands musically for as long as they were all making music, and I feel like it was the start of something. My mom and I went to it and it was just so fun. I can remember it being 1 something in the morning, its 27 degrees and we were standing outside chatting with one of the guys in one of the bands and it was so nice. After that show I actually got to see the main band I went to see 2 other times, and then one of the other bands I have seen 3 times since. It was just a really neat group of people and I think that memory will always stand out as will the 25! Ha!
Also that day happened in the year I started Instagram and started doing nail art, and that day is the first day I remember really planning my nails and wanting to remember the polishes I wore, because I'm weird I guess! LOL, but now for all concerts of significance I can tell you what I wore polish or art wise. I guess I remember odd things, or maybe you do it too and I'm not the only one!?
(Also just realized I didn't use any of the band names from that concert... I guess its sad to because none of them are really making music anymore. Well one of the bands is still together but they haven't released anything in a long time so....)
Back to the topic of the 5 Second of Summer nails tho, I think I can easily say they have become a favorite band of mine this year for numerous reasons and well this CD was just amazing. Definitely their best one to date. I have all of the others but this one is just something else, so it only seemed fitting to do nails for it. Hopefully you enjoyed this post. I feel like this is like my Shark week post. I had so much fun chatting in that one and mixing nails with real life interests and here I am doing it again. Like, I already love writing blog posts, but when they are like this I love them even more because I feel like I am just chatting with a friend. Which actually todays Youtube Video feels that way too. I want to start participating in Topic Tuesdays. I have wanted to for a bit but I felt like I had to upload on a Tuesday and for me that just doesn't work, so I've now made peace with the fact I will be posting Topic Tuesdays on Wednesday's. This week instead of doing this week's question I am just picking two from July's topics and covering them so I can jump in with next months themes. So if you would like, you can check it out here! Well I hope you are all having a wonderful day and I will catch up with you soon!
Happy Painting, or music listening!
