Ocean Nail Art + Sea Turtles

Ocean Nail Art

Hey there everyone! So I am back with another day of tropical nail for this weeks Digital Dozen theme. Of course I associate the ocean with tropical so it only seemed fitting plus I thought it would also give me a chance to chat with you all a bit about some ocean related things.

First up lets go over what I used for the mani so we can get into some other things! I started with a white polish base and this time I used Nails Inc. White Out. Its a great white! Then all of the art was done with acrylic paint, and free handed using the Mitty Candy 00 brush.

We all know the ocean is hurting in many ways and I could talk about it forever and how I wish more was being done to protect it and just get lost in that but in light of recent event I thought it would be meaningful to talk about Red Tide. Just the other day 7 counties in the State of Florida actually had to call a state of emergency because of it. If you aren't familiar with red tide it is a form of a harmful algae bloom that creates toxins in the water that kill marine life. Right now Florida is seeing outrageous numbers in manatee, dolphin, fish, sea turtles, and many more and its so heart breaking to see the photos of what is going on, on the west coast of Florida. Plus not only can this hurt the marine life it can also affect, birds, other animals that eat fish, or live in the water and even humans which I think many don't realize. If you want to find out more info on what Red Tide actually is NOAA has some great info HERE that goes deeper into the topic and beyond what I know from Marine Biology. :)

Red Tide does occur basically every year to an extent but this year is one of the worst Florida has seen in quite some time, and they are saying the Chain effect may last for year. I'm sure some probably saw the news about the State of Emergency called and thought how could doing that help. I mean I myself wasn't really sure as to how it could really help but after reading this, you can see how it will help. Plus things that will coincide will be clean ups, and this will affect fishing communities as well. Anyway, I could keep going on and even moving on to other ocean related subjects but we will leave that for another mani another day. I hope you enjoyed learning a bit more about what it going on in parts of Florida. I am very thankful and happy to see our area not being affected but I know its really hurt many other parts of the state from all the things I mentioned earlier plus it has also affected tourism within touristy areas. So really there is quite the major chain affect.
