5 Seconds of Summer Valentine Nail Art

5 Seconds of Summer Nail Art

Hey guys, welcome back! Hope your week is off to a good start. I am SO beyond excited about todays post. Its art inspired by art and music because music is art. Plus its a mani thats quite rare. Often you get this neat idea, and envision it a certain way but then that doesn't translate to reality. However 2 different ideas I had for this mani actually worked and I am just beyond thrilled.

So as we all know music inspires me all of the time for different things. Sunday morning I had 5 Seconds of Summer Valentine on the brain for some reason and all of the sudden nail art came to mind. Now for those of you who don't know, Valentine is a song by 5 Seconds of Summer and while it is about Valentines Day, hear the back story here, it almost has a Halloween song to it which I have always thought since day one of hearing it. Then they came out with the music video that totally matched Halloween theme I had been thinking. There was a teaser video first that was basically the gif I have inserted below. 4 skeletons, with instruments and then occasional flashes to the people. Then the official video came out which featured the same sort of vibe and theme and the skeletons made an appearance.

Now when the video for the song came out I was thinking , oh popping balloons, how can I paint that. I had so much fun with my Youngblood Nail Art, that I knew I wanted to do Valentine as well, but Then I got wrapped up in other projects and put a note to try to come up with something later.

Then as I mentioned earlier on Sunday I was being the DJ of the house and Valentine came on and I was already brainstorming Halloween Nail art but soon as the song came on I had the immediate idea to do the skeletons with their instruments as shown in the Valentine video. I was totally not thinking it was going to work out but I dropped everything and ran up to my painting area and tried it. (So glad it was an around the house Sunday so I could do that) I pulled up the video on my computer and got busy and then it worked! I was so thrilled!

Then this morning I was debating on when to post the mani, and I got this crazy idea to turn the mani into a gif to create the same sort of flashing vibe, so I just did that as you can see below! I totally wish I could share it with the music but I cant do that here. I'll see what I can do elsewhere tho! Maybe a peek at it on my story later?!

For this mani everything was Freehanded with my Mitty Candy 00 brush with acrylic paint on top of Salon Perfect's Oil Slick. Which might I add is a fabulous black polish! I'm not going to lie, this mani was super hard! I did the first one and that one was probably the best/easiest one because as I did the rest I was trying to match the first one and thats when it became really tricky!

One of my favorite elements of the design though is actually the instruments. I felt like yeah we've seen skeleton manis before but not with guitars. Well maybe you have but I have not! Ha! So this was the neatest part of it for me.

If you have not heard the song you should totally check it out! I will say I am usually a very hesitant about watching music videos. If you know a song and have heard it so many times, chances are you have your own little story behind the song, your own scenes so sometimes seeing a video can interfere with what you had in mind. Which is why I am often careful when it comes to watching music videos. That being said I do also like them sometimes because then you get to see the artistic, and creative thought of the artists. In this case the video was directed and created by Andy DeLuca and Ashton Irwin. Andy is the videographer/photographer for 5 Seconds of Summer and Ashton is the Drummer. So they really kept it all within the band which I think is neat!

I don't usually take a photo like this pose wise but I thought it showed off the guitar, and bass better than some other shots. I thought it was quite creative how they made the skeletons aka the band members holding their instruments despite the drums of course for obvious reasons, like you don't hold a drum set.

Well guys that is it for today! I hope you have enjoyed this Valentine Halloween manicure inspired by the one and only 5 Seconds of Summer ; Luke, Calum, Michael, Ashton. I loved doing this mani, and the creative process behind it of being inspired by other art. These types of manis that have a more complex inspiration behind them are just my favorite, so I hope you liked them. Let me know what you though of these, or the song, or the video or any music you want to see turned into nails! :)

Happy Painting!
