China Glaze Paint It Black

Hello there and welcome back! How is everyone doing? Its been a busy week and I'm so happy to just be sitting writing something fun. :) Today I have swatches of the new China Glaze Paint It Black collection which is out now and consists of 6 new shades perfect for Halloween.

China Glaze Maliboo-boo

Mailboo-boo
2 coats

A black linear holographic.

China Glaze Maliboo-boo

The formula on this one is great as you will be able to tell in todays swatch video! It applied perfectly in two coats and gives off a really nice linear holo in my opinion. Not super strong but enough to make you smile.

China Glaze Shadies & Gentleman

Shadies & Gentleman
2 coats

A black matte creme.

China Glaze Shadies & Gentleman

So I wanted to like this one because it just seems so Halloween appropriate but it just didn't work for me. As I put it on my nails it kind of acted like a crackle which is why my index finger looks kinda funny and you can kind of slightly see it in the swatch video but really it behaved better in the video than it did when I swatched for this! Also I just want to note I think this issue is just a problem with my bottle. These are the PR samples and its bottle is different than what one will purchase in stores, so the store bottles may be perfectly fine.

China Glaze Night and Slay

Night and Slay
2 coats

Black matte micro glitters and holo micro glitters in a clear base.

China Glaze Night and Slay

Ok this polish is so fun! It can totally be a topper but it can also be built up in 2 coats as you are seeing here. I am loving this the holo is so prominent and it contrasts with the Matte black micro glitters so well. Since this is a full on glitter polish I would suggest/advise a peel off base coat to make life easier.

China Glaze Wicked Liquid

Wicked Liquid
1 coats

A black based golden metallic.

China Glaze Wicked Liquid

Ok this polish is super neat and not what I expected in a predominantly black based collection but I love it! Its got a deep golden look at kind of also has a green tone to it. The formula was/is amazing and covered in one coat. Yep, perfect in one coat for me! I was really happy with it!

China Glaze Pret-a-Potion

Pret-a-Potion
2 coats

A black matte micro glitter in a clear base.

China Glaze Pret-a-Potion

This one is interesting. Its definitely a topper, and its just straight black matte micro glitters in a clear base. I'm not a huge fan of it but it does cover well. This is two coats and a lot of the micro glitters come out in just one coat as well. You guys can see that in the video! I could see this fun being layer in some jelly polishes, might be neat!

China Glaze Ash & Burn

Ash & Burn
2 coats

A black based creme with copper micro glitters.

China Glaze Ash & Burn

This polish is excited to see from a mainstream! Its got a crelly feeling black base then it has a mix or copper, silver, and golden micro glitters that give it a fall/halloween feel.

China Glaze Ash & Burn

Here it is a lil closer up and you can really see all of the microglitters in it!

China Glaze Paint It Black

Well guys that is it! I will have some art up soon with this collection I think. I did some but didn't love it/it didn't translate to the nail as well as I had hoped but we will see! Anywhooo, I hope you enjoyed this post and seeing this collection! Let me know what your favorite one was in the comments. I'm loving Wicked Liquid and Night & Slay!

This collection is available now at Sallys Beauty, Ulta, and various Online Retailers!

Happy Painting!

  2. Lately, China Glaze has been kind of "blah" to me, but they are coming out strong with their Fall 2018 collections. I have "Malibu-Boo" and "Wicked Liquid." Both are great! Thanks for the amazing swatches!
